. The Deception of Compassion

When I first started my recording career years ago, one of the original titles was "I AM".  During that period of time I was studying with Astara School of Mysteries as it was called in the '80s.  One sentence that I recorded on that album remains with me to this day.  I often repeat it to myself, especially during times of trial in order to remind myself of one's inner divinity. "You are Individual God Sparks, and Cells of my Own Being".  The wisdom in this article curated below reinforces those early spiritual truths gained throughout many years of study. I hope that this article on The Deception of Compassion will awaken your own Inner Divinity.

"Spiritual masters say that the guru -- the true teacher -- and divinity are within each of us. Taken at face value that means that you are already realized and have a factory-installed foundation of wisdom. If that's the case then why would you need a teacher or guide for spiritual development?"

"While wisdom and realization may be fundamental to your being they are obfuscated by a lifelong process starting at birth that leads us away from the realized state and inner guru. From the outset, personal experiences and conditioning manifest a personal ego that we firmly believe is our sole identity. That conclusion commits us to a lifelong process of seeking self-realization by strengthening, expanding and defending the little me/self/ego in a desperate struggle for survival. And most of our psychological theories and traditional societal teachings keep us on that dead-end path, since they too cannot see any foundation for existence other than the ego level of consciousness."

When I first read this article's title, I reacted to it.  Say, whaaat?  Upon completion, I had a new understanding of what  the author, Bernard Starr, means by The Deception of Compassion  in terms of personal "ego" interference.  His book outlines enemies of spiritual development that grab our attention and often keep us prisoners our entire lives.  Be prepared for an "eye opening" that will change your reality on many levels.
