In the Spotlight: The power of forgiveness. “Forgive everybody everything, accept the past as past without denying it or discarding it. Reminisce about it, but don’t live in it. Learn from it, but don’t punish yourself about it, or continually regret it. And don’t get stuck in it.” This is where a great deal of people get stuck, and no matter what is said or done, can not move past it. Sometimes the "sin" is so great that forgiveness can be an insurmountable task. Here is one woman's view on this quality.
"Forgiveness can be a very hard thing to give, and sometimes a very hard thing to receive as well. But forgiveness is a very important step we all need to take in our healing process. Holding things in can cause bitterness, anger, and resentment to eat away at you. These things can be like a virus; they grow in strength over time, eating away at your spirit. If you need to heal from your past then forgiveness may be your best way to recovery.
Psalm 25:11
For the sake of your name, O Lord, forgive my iniquity, though it is great.
As anger grows, it makes you feel as if the person you are angry with owes you something; guilt makes you feel as if you owe someone else something; and regret makes you feel as if you owe yourself something. When a debt is owed, there are only two ways to get rid of it; pay it off or forgive it.
Forgiveness does not erase what they did; it simply releases everyone from having to pay it back. If I had continued to hold onto the debts of my past I would have been waiting for the rest of my life to be paid what I was owed, and of course that wasn’t going to happen."
When you really think about it you have to put a value on what is owed to you, and what can someone pay to make up for a loss of confidence, a loss of trust in self and others? A debt like that can never be paid. The Lord did not want me to wait around to be paid, he wanted me to forgive and leave vengeance to Him, and He wants the same for you. God says vengeance belongs to him, anyway.
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good
To those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."

"If you choose to make a creative work to express your pain and healing, the results from your creative work may just take you completely by surprise. I know it did me. I’ve read letters and had conversations with many women, young and old alike, and men as well, who say they’ve been touched by what I wrote in my book. That by far is the greatest reward of all.
We may not be able to change the world, but we can make a difference by touching the life of one person at a time. When I was younger, I never thought I’d be a writer, a speaker, an author, a photographer or a radio talk show host, but God has greatly blessed me indeed and I know with all my heart He wants to bless you, too. I know forgiveness isn’t easy, but I also know it’s worth it."
