Positive Spirituality in Health Care By Dr. Frederic Craigie A Book Review

In concert with the theme of today's blog topic on Spiritual Healing, here is a thoughtful resource for those who work in the field, including clinicians and spiritual leaders.

"Positive Spirituality in Health Care offers a fresh, holistic, and practical framework for the integration of spirituality in health care. Dr. Craigie proposes that excellent spiritual care arises from three arenas: the personal groundedness and spiritual well-being of clinicians, the clinical encouragement of patients' spiritual resources, and the organizational cultivation of spirited leadership and soul..."

The book offers fresh and valuable information on a little understood practice and belief system.

What is the history of faith healing?

This question has puzzled many over the centuries.  Does faith healing exist?  Is it a figment of one's imagination?  Here is another opinion worth consideration.

  1. "The use of faith healing, or the laying-on of the hands to heal human illness dates back thousands of years in history. Evidence for its use in ancient Egypt is found in the Ebers Papyrus dated at around 1552 BC. This document describes the use of the laying-on of the hands for medical treatment. Centuries before the birth of Jesus Christ, the Greeks used therapeutic touch therapy in their Asklepian temples for healing the sick. The writings of Aristophanes define the use of the laying-on the hands in Athens to restore a blind man's sight."

Faith Healing is a topic that has fascinated and confounded many.   The mere mention of this ability has often been ridiculed by theologians and scientists.  This book sheds light on a highly controversial topic.
