Positive Spirituality in Health Care By Dr. Frederic Craigie A Book Review

In concert with the theme of today's blog topic on Spiritual Healing, here is a thoughtful resource for those who work in the field, including clinicians and spiritual leaders.

"Positive Spirituality in Health Care offers a fresh, holistic, and practical framework for the integration of spirituality in health care. Dr. Craigie proposes that excellent spiritual care arises from three arenas: the personal groundedness and spiritual well-being of clinicians, the clinical encouragement of patients' spiritual resources, and the organizational cultivation of spirited leadership and soul..."

The book offers fresh and valuable information on a little understood practice and belief system.

More Americans Are Praying About Their Health

Do you pray when you are ill?  Read this fascinating study.

"More Americans are praying about health issues — both for themselves and for the health of others — according to a new study [PDF] published in the journal Psychology of Religion and Spirituality."

"We're seeing a wide variety of prayer use among people with good income and access to medical care," said co-author Dr. Amy Wachholtz, a psychiatrist at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, in a statement:  "People are not exchanging health insurance for prayer."

Praying when ill; seeking solace during crises; praying for others; praying for the return to sanity in chaotic times.  Praying is a space we retreat to when faced with issues; not the least of which, is the issue of mortality.

Prayer sent from a heart that knows Gratitude is in pure resonance with Spiritual Harmonics.

If tomorrow never comes, today, through prayer, you connected with the Higher Power, and baring your soul, trusting the outcome of this two way commitment, you are blessed.   Feel the Peace.

What is the role of faith and spirituality in medicine?

This excellent, brief article discusses how we are "wired for God".   Dr. Bill Salt cites Dr. Herbert Benson's groundbreaking work on how the integration of faith, hope, and belief in a divine presence relates to healing.

  1. In Timeless Healing, Herbert Benson, M.D., says that we are all "wired for God."

"Whether you are Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist or something else, your belief in a higher power heals".

"Based on a wealth of scientific research, experiential reports and preliminary investigational literature, we conclude that spirituality must be reintegrated into the mind-body connection. The healing power of spirituality is an integral and inseparable part of all other forms of healing".

I intend to add Timeless Healing, as well as his book Timeless Healing - The Power and Biiology of  Belief  to my library they are valuable resources.
