Why should I follow the more difficult path to healing?

 Dr. Dean Ornish is a pioneer"voice"  in the field of self help for health and well being.  In his new book, Love and Survival: 8 Pathways to Intimacy and Health, he offers many wonderful suggestions to reclaiming intimacy and health in your life.

  1. "Some things that are hard are worth doing. For example, my program of comprehensive lifestyle changes is not easy. But it works for many people. I'd like to be able to say that cheeseburgers are good for you, but they're not. It's so much easier just to take a pill, but the benefits are more limited and short-term. Similarly, religion often asks a lot of us. At the time of the Golden Calf, many people asked Moses, "Why should I do all this stuff? Why do we need the Ten Commandments? Wouldn't three or four do? Why should we have any limitations?...

    If intimacy issues are a concern for you, this is a fine book to use for guidance and resolution.
